Available in the form of capsules rather than tablets, quinine sulfate (
Qualaquin®) is prescribed to treat uncomplicated (or mild)
malaria.
Quinine is only available in one strength -- quinine 324-mg capsules. It is typically taken every eight hours (three times a day) for seven days. You should start to feel better within two days of beginning quinine therapy. However, do not stop taking this medication just because you feel better. Take it for as long as your healthcare provider recommends.
