Treatment OptionsIf the overdose was recent, a healthcare provider may administer activated charcoal or "pump the stomach" to help reduce the amount of the medication that is absorbed into the bloodstream. Treatment will also involve supportive care, which consists of treating symptoms that occur as a result of the overdose.
Supportive treatment options for a Malarone overdose may include monitoring fluid levels and blood electrolytes (such as sodium, potassium, and chloride), especially if severe vomiting and diarrhea occur. Fluids may be given through an intravenous (IV) line if needed. It is not known if kidney dialysis will help with an overdose.
