According to the World Health Organization (WHO), malaria is responsible for more than 1 million deaths throughout the world each year. Malaria is the fourth leading cause of death in children worldwide. An effective malaria vaccine would be a critical component to aid in the control of this disease; therefore, malaria vaccine research scientists will continue to try and develop an effective malaria vaccine for humans.
