Before taking
chloroquine phosphate (
Aralen®), tell your healthcare provider if you have any of the following conditions:
- Psoriasis
- Kidney disease
- G6PD (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase) deficiency
- Hearing problems.
Chloroquine is not suitable for everyone. While some people simply require closer monitoring during treatment, other people will need to avoid this drug altogether. Contraindications for chloroquine include:
- Being allergic to any of the ingredients in the drug
- Having had any eye problems from chloroquine or similar antimalarial medications.
